Segway Santa and his Reindeer

By |December 9th, 2013

Each year in Stornoway’s Town Centre, a lights turning on event is held. This year the funding from the Council was not available for the Town Centre Lights and the event was cancelled. However in stepped Jane Hepburn who, working with the Stornoway Amenity Trust and Syber Promotions, created a Stornoway Christmas Street Ceilidh. The Stornoway Gazette has the full story here.

Segway Hebrides wanted to help spread the Christmas cheer and with one eye on the weather (in particular ice) we enlisted the help of Santa and his Reindeer and headed out to join the party. The weather as it turns out was one of the highlights of the evening with the snow adding a very Christmassy feel to the whole event. Watch our highlights below.

Autumn in the Castle Grounds

By |November 5th, 2013

The autumnal colours in the Castle Grounds just now are beautiful. On a crisp, sunny day like today riding a Segway is even more special!

We are grateful for the lend of an sports camera which we have been experimenting with and got these shots. We are looking forward to getting more footage and capturing the Segway experience from a first person view.

By |September 30th, 2013

Aside from the Castle Grounds having such wonderful varied paths, we are also lucky to have an area at the front of the Woodlands Centre perfect for learning how to operate a Segway. This wee video demonstrates even learning how to ride a Segway is great fun!

The Nicolson Institute Interact Club – Taster Session

By |September 26th, 2013

Members of the Nicolson Institute’s Interact Club joined us for a taster session where they each had a chance to try out a Segway and enjoy a short tour.

The Nicolson Institute’s Interact Club have been active throughout the year with a number of fund-raising activities taking place including tours of the Nicolson Institute to raise funds for Literacy Boxes. This was a great opportunity for them to try something new and recognition of the successes they have achieved as a group throughout the year.

Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting. For more information about the Interact Club, visit their Facebook page here.

Thank You very much for giving us the opportunity to have a mini-taster on your segways. We all agreed that is was a different and interesting yet entertaining and fun way of travel. I for one, will definitely be recommending such an experience and I hope to come back for a tour.

Testing… testing…

By |August 9th, 2012

With the good weather we’ve had the opportunity to get the machines up and running and most importantly… tested. Of course all 5 Segways passed with flying colours and are now ready for the fun and excitement of off-road trails in the Castle Grounds.

It’s a tough job but somebody has to do it!
